Specific Need

Programs and Services

Second Harvest distributes grocery products through 37 member agencies throughout Crawford County. Examples of member agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and other charities. We also partner with other organizations to operate School Pantries, BackPack programs, Produce Express distributions, Military Share distributions, and Senior Box programs. A total of 101,430 individuals in northwest Pennsylvania (28,810 are children) are without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable food. In Crawford County, 12,070 individuals and 3,460 children are currently food insecure. Recipients of our porgraming receive food free of charge and include unemployed and underemployed workers, people experiencing homelessness, senior citizens, children, individuals with disabilities, and families in crisis situations. In our most recent fiscal year, we distributed 11.8 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need. Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania supports over 200 families at our monthly Produce Express distribution in Meadville.
