Goal: $2,000.00
Specific Need
Titusville Renaissance, Inc. is seeking donations to support a $2,000 goal to pursue park improvements at both the north and south ends of the Queen City Trail, which runs between the Ed Myer Complex and Oil Creek. These two parks are Fleming Park, which serves as the downtown trailhead of the QCT, and the Jersey Bridge Trailhead, which is the northern end of the Oil Creek Trail, positioned at the entrance to Drake Well Museum & Park and Oil Creek State Park.
Our project will make improvements to Fleming Park, a key public space in Titusville, at the southeastern corner of Crawford County and the northern edget of the Oil Region National Heritage Area. The park serves as the in-town trailhead for the Queen City Trail and is adjacent to a senior living facility. The Queen City Trail is part of the larger Erie to Pittsburgh trail system. This multigenerational green space is accessible to all skill and activity levels and connects Titusville's downtown to the state designated Oil Creek Water Trail and the Ed Myer Recreation Complex, which includes ball fields,
a pickleball court, a BMX bike course, and a dog park. In Fleming Park, we would like to add a new ADA picnic table, bike rack, and recognition plaques to existing benches and the clock garden, improve the landscaping, especially around the Victorian clock, and add lighting to make the space more welcoming and safer in the evenings and early mornings. The park is a vital location for community members, especially those living in senior housing without their own lawns and greenspaces for exercise, recreation, and gathering to enjoy nature.
For the Jersey Bridge Trailhead, TRI would like to contribute to the development of a crosswalk linking the Queen City Trail to the parking lot of the Jersey Bridge Trailhead as well as a mural introducing the Queen City Trail and inviting folks to follow it into downtown Titusville. These projects are part of a larger, ongoing project with Drake Well to make improvements to the Jersey Bridge Trailhead area.
We would also like to purchase lighted stop signs for crossing guards to improve the safety of those workers as well as pedestrians at peak times during the school day and also for use during special events.
Both of these spaces are vital locations for community members, county residents, and guests alike.
Mission
Titusville Renaissance, Inc. is an independent, volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit revitalization organization committed to the enhancement of the greater Titusville community.
Profile
Titusville Renaissance, Inc., known as TRI, is a 501c3 nonprofit, which began as Titusville’s Main Street Program in 1992. After the conclusion of the Main Street Program, TRI continued as an all-volunteer board supported through public fundraising. Since 2007, TRI has helped attract more than a half million dollars in funding to the Titusville area via grants, donations, and pass-through services.
Our current projects include Titusville Open Air Market (TOAM), Titusville Area Trails Association (TATA), Farm to Fork local food event, National Trails Day, placemaking projects, event promotion for local businesses and events, and associated advocacy activities.
We maintain Titusville's Community Calendar, which can be accessed at TapIntoTitusvillePA.com/events/.
Through our placemaking project, which began in 2019, we installed seven downtown utility box covers featuring the work of local artists depicting scenes, items, and people related to Titusville's heritage. The project also included new "Historic Downtown Titusville Welcomes You" banners that have been installed on utility poles, and placing large format downtown landmark maps at Founders Park, Scheide Park, OC&T Railroad, and Burgess Park along with printed takeaway maps to help direct guests around town.
TRI continues these efforts to welcome residents and visitors alike to the downtown and showcase our town's many historic and cultural assets.
