Celebrating 29 Years of Serving Homeless Men in Meadville and Beyond

For 29 years, St. James Haven has been a beacon of hope for homeless men in Meadville and the surrounding areas. Each year, we provide a safe space for over 200 men and offer more than 3000 bed nights, along with meals, showers, laundry facilities, and hygiene products.  These funds help us continue our mission on a day to day basis.

At St. James Haven, we believe that every person deserves dignity, respect, and a path to a brighter future. Staffed by an Executive Director and two live-in managers, we work closely with local social service agencies to assist our guests in securing employment, housing, and other essential services.

Transitioning out of homelessness is challenging, but no one should have to do it alone. By providing not only shelter but also guidance and community support, we empower men to rebuild their lives with stability and independence.

Mission

In keeping with the Sisters of St. Joseph mission of "unity of neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God without distiction", St. James Haven provides a place of welcome, refuge, food and comfort nightly for homeless men in the Meadville, PA area.

Profile

St. James Haven, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, provides safe shelter and support for homeless men 365 days a year from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Each night, guests receive a warm meal, a hot shower, hygiene products, and a comfortable bed in a welcoming environment. Our goal is to offer a place where men can regain stability without the immediate worry of where they will sleep or eat. We believe in providing a hand up, not a handout, working closely with local social service agencies to help our guests transition into independent living.

Staffed by an Executive Director and two live-in managers, St. James Haven is supported by a dedicated board of directors, nightly visitors, and volunteers who ensure each guest is treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. We receive no ongoing government or state funding and rely primarily on the generosity of our community and fundraising to continue our mission.
