Goal: $25,000.00
Specific Need
The true measure of a community isn't how it responds when life is easy. It's whether people have somewhere to turn when life isn't.
No one plans for a crisis. Life can change in an instant. A job loss. A medical diagnosis. A house fire. An empty pantry. A family struggling to find its way. In those moments, people don't need judgment. They need someone willing to show up.
Since 1863, the people of Crawford County have sustained that place. Today, we call it the Center for Family Services.
Most people will never need every service we provide. But everyone benefits from living in a community where help is available when it's needed most.
Every day, we quietly meet people where they are and help them take the next step forward. Sometimes that means providing a meal, a toothbrush, a winter coat, or basic hygiene items. Other times it means helping a family stay in their home, strengthening the relationship between a parent and child, connecting someone with life changing resources, or simply reminding a neighbor that they are not alone.
Your Crawford Gives donation gives us the flexibility to respond to whatever tomorrow brings. It allows us to meet needs as they arise, restore hope when it feels out of reach, and continue the quiet work of making our community healthier, safer, and stronger.
None of us knows when we'll need a helping hand-up. But together, we can make sure it's always there.

Profile
Building a Brighter Future
In 1863, a group of local women formed the Home Relief Society to help the families of Civil War soldiers. They delivered cords of wood to keep homes warm and families together. Today, those cords of wood may look like utility assistance, but the heart of our mission has never changed. We meet people where they are, respond to today's needs, and help create the opportunities that lead to lasting change.
That same philosophy is reflected in our new office facility. With the support of this incredible community, we have breathed new life into a once blighted property, transforming it into a place built to serve Crawford County for generations to come. While there is still work to do, every improvement brings us one step closer to our vision of creating a true community resource hub where individuals, families, and partner organizations come together to strengthen our community.
This has never been about renovating a building. It has always been about creating opportunities. Opportunities to meet people where they are, respond to today's needs, and help build a stronger tomorrow.
Our goal is simple: to help people become healthy enough to sustain opportunity and strong enough to create lasting change. Sometimes that begins with a meal, a warm home, or a safe place to turn. Other times it begins with education, encouragement, accountability, and someone willing to walk alongside them. We believe it is not about giving someone a fish or teaching them to fish. It is about doing both, because it is hard to learn how to fish when you are hungry.
The Center has always belonged to this community, and it always will. Every donation, every volunteer, every shared story, and every act of kindness helps carry this mission forward. Whether you choose to give financially, volunteer your time, share your talents, or simply tell someone about the work happening here, you become part of a legacy of neighbors helping neighbors that has endured for more than 160 years.
Because 163 years from now, we hope people will still be able to say the same thing they can today: when life did not go as planned, our community showed up.
If you believe every person deserves someone to turn to when life doesn't go as planned, I invite you to join me in supporting the Center for Family Services. Together, we can ensure that legacy continues for generations to come.
