Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

SPECIAL NEEDS: This is for a two-fold project. The first is to complete a project that will complete our project to digitize all our archives to they will be accessible to the public free of charge. The program will allow people to actually see what the artifact looks like -- versus just a note that we have the artifact. For example, a clipping about Conneaut Lake Park from 1958 would show the item in its entirety versus just saying with have that clipping. It will be a great resource for researchers -- both students and teachers as well as those just doing it as a hobby. We have been preparing this for several years and are now ready to proceed.

The second part of the goal is to raise funds for our military banner program. The program is not a fund-raiser as those who purchase the banners pay a fee and receive the banner after two years.

However, the historical society pays the borough for the employee cost of putting up and taking down the banners. This is to ensure no taxpayer funds are used for the project.

Funds raised through this campaign will be used for that purpose as well.

We have ongoing projects. In 2026, we completed renovations to the museum, which included the garage where the Liberty the Second speedboat is housed as well updating the electrical and plumbing systems with a total cost exceeding $25,000.

Our major special project completed in 2026,was the erection of 60 military banners on poles in the borough.

We have received overwhelmingly praise for the banners and we will take applications for more banners probably in September.

It was an exciting project ending work which started nine years ago!
