Specific Need

The Academy Theatre creates opportunities for our neighbors to participate in and enjoy stunning theatrical productions. The talent and commitment that allows the Academy to produce the excellent shows it's known for comes from the phenomenal volunteers and supporters in our community.

As a nonprofit, the Academy invests all its revenue from ticket sales and contributions from donors like you into

materials for the sets, costumes, and tech that help make shows participants & audiences can be proud of
maintenance of our historic home on Chestnut Street
courses in music, movement, and performance for all ages, and youth education opportunities like camps and "junior" productions
and the operation of the organization, like administrative costs, financial security for the future, and staff pay.

Mission

The Academy's mission is to be a recognized center for the performing arts in Northwest Pennsylvania, and an integral part of the regional arts community. To perform in a fully functioning, comfortable and historically faithful facility, and to develop artistic appreciation and serve the cultural, social, and educational needs of the expanding audience.

Profile

Since its inception 1885, the Academy has entertained over 140 years of audiences as an opera house, vaudeville venue, cinema, and now community theater.
