Specific Need

Our current need is to remove several trees from the property that could cause extensive damage to headstones if they were to fall in the cemetery. 

One tree is totally dead and huge in size.  Another tree is leaning over the headstones and there are several limbs that need to be trimmed from other trees. 

Profile

The Mitchell Cemetery was established in 1801 and incorporated in 1883.

The Mitchell Cemetery Association is overseen by a Board of Directors (President, Vice- President, Secretary and Treasurer) along with three Trustees of varying terms of service.  We also have an additional seven volunteers that regularly attend meetings and assist with projects in the cemetery.

We are actively cleaning headstones, so far more than 30 since late June and early July, 2026.  We have plans to reset many stones this summer, especially in the oldest section of the cemetery, along with repairing several that have broken over the years.
