Shade Tree Commission - City of Meadville

Specific Need

The Shade Tree Commission is seeking funds to increase Meadville’s forest canopy by working with volunteer groups to pot and grow tree seedlings to be offered to area residents for planting on their property.

This initiative supports the efforts of various volunteer organizations throughout the commonwealth whose goal is to increase the forest canopy by planting 50,000 trees to offset global warming effects.

The funds will be used to purchase seedlings and other supplies as well as educational materials.

The Shade Tree Commission advocates for the Municipal Forest, street and public green infrastructure through advising, volunteer and professional planning operations.

Profile

The Shade Tree Commission of Meadville is comprised of five city residents appointed by the City to serve on the Commission. The Commissioners receive no salary and have volunteered to serve in this capacity.
