Specific Need

The Meadville Area Youth Baseball and Softball Board of Directors have the following special projects they would like to see completed in the near future:

1) New entrance sign for the property on Dickson Rd. identifying the property as the newly dedicated Dithrich Family Youth Baseball & Softball Complex.

2) Replacing the dugouts on the recently renovated Softball Field 2.

3) Converting Baseball Field 5 into an Intermediate level (50/70) playing field.

In addition to the special projects, field maintenance equipment as well as concession stand equipment require periodic servicing, repairs and upgrades. MAYBS aims to provide quality playing equipment and facilities for all levels of play. With basic playing equipment costs continuing to increase, MAYBS works to keep registration costs affordable for families of all income levels. No player has been or will ever be turned away due to an inability to pay.

Mission

Meadville Area Youth Baseball and Softball strives to provide local youth (ages 5-16) the opportunity to learn and apply teamwork, physical activity, and sportsmanship through baseball and softball while building a sense of community.

Operating as a chartered Little League program, Meadville Area Little League's goals are:

To provide a safe and supportive baseball and softball environment for all participants, at all levels of play.
To instill and promote the values and respect (for each other and for the game), sportsmanship, teamwork, effort regardless of result, competition and fair play.
To provide quality instruction geared towards allowing each child to maximize his or her abilities as a baseball or softball player.

Profile

The Meadville Area Youth Baseball and Softball Board of Directors maintains and operates a chartered Little League program, Meadville Area Little League, for youth within the Meadville Area School District boundary. The Meadville Area Little League provides both a baseball and softball program for boys and girls ages 5-16. A total of 5 playing fields along with a full concession stand, pavillion, and restrooms are located at the Dithrich Family Youth Baseball & Softball Complex at 13161 Dickson Road (adjacent to the Crawford County Fairgrounds). Additional playing fields are located at Roche Park in Vernon Township. A total of 232 youth participated in baseball and softball during the recently completed 2026 season.

As a non-profit organization, Meadville Area Little League relies heavily on generous sponsorships from local businesses, annual registration fees, concession stand income, and donations from local individuals and businesses. Meadville Area Little League annually hosts the District 1 8-10 year Baseball All-Star Tournament at the Dickson Rd complex. Additionally, Meadville Area Little League has often hosted Section 1 All-Star Tournaments in both baseball and softball which bring in teams from as far away as Erie, DuBois, and Butler. These tournaments not only benefit MAYBS but also the local area economy with hotel stays, food, gas, and shopping.
