Profile

The Crawford County School for Adult Education (CCSAE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting adult learners in our community. We meet students where they are and help each one create an individualized action plan based on their personal needs. Once enrolled, students receive textbooks, workbooks, and testing at no cost. Our instructors, board members, and professional presenters all serve as volunteers. CCSAE relies on the generosity of neighbors, friends, and fundraising events to fund our programs.

In order to serve the needs of our students to date, CCSAE offers the following educational programs:

• GED-CCSAE offers instruction in all four state required GED courses: math, science, social studies, and language arts. We also provide opportunities for students who are ready to take online testing for each subject as required by the State of Pennsylvania to do so.

• English as a second language (ESL)- This program not only helps students learn and improve their English but also assists them in adjusting to their new local culture.

• STRIVE-Individual soft skills workshops are offered to students who are interested in building a professional portfolio to gain meaningful employment.

• Personal Finance- Workshops are presented on a weekly basis, covering a variety of essential financial topics to help students navigate today's modern financial world.

While the GED program, ESL classes, STRIVE and Personal Finance courses highlight our offerings at

CCSAE, we have been able to help our students in other ways:

• assist in completing job applications and other connected paperwork.

• provide individual tutoring to our students and other community members by request.

• help identify job opportunities

• introduce students to community professionals from various businesses

• provide field trips for cultural enrichment.

• offer books through our Reading Across Generations initiative.

• work with local businesses to enrich job skills to their employees.

CCSAE continues to evolve to meet the current and future educational needs of adult learners in Crawford County. We remain committed to our mission and core values, which guide our work to help community members enrich their lives, strengthen their employment skills, and achieve their goals. We believe there is nothing we cannot accomplish when we work together as a community.
