Cambridge Upper Cemetery Association

Specific Need

Several of the graves from the early and mid 1800s, with no surviving relatives left to care for or maintain them, have fallen into disrepair. Their markers, not having concrete bases at the time of their placement, have toppled over. Any money donated would be used to construct solid bases and upright the stones so the graves can be restored and marked once again in a respectful manner.

Mission

The Cambridge Upper Cemetery is a small public cemetery located in Cambridge Springs and since its first interment in 1820, it has provided a place for remembrance and reflection for families and individuals. More than a final resting place for individuals, it provides a biography of the community that can be used by historians and genealogists to piece together the history of a specific family or even the community itself. The design of the cemetery, the placement of the graves, the inscriptions and pictures on the headstones, and the type of memorials all reflect the cultural and religious traditions of the people buried there. Our mission is to preserve the cemetery, so we can safeguard our cemetery and its value to the community for future generations.
