Clama's purpose is to protect Conneaut Lake's recreational, economic, and ecological values, to promote public safety and education, and to encourage a cost-effective aquatic management program.

Founded in 1996, the Conneaut Lake Aquatic Management Association, Inc. was formed to develop a program to guide the management of Conneaut Lake and its watershed on a long term basis.
