Profile

Since 2008, VPALS has offered 3-day “Breakaways” for combat veterans and their partners, for family members of KIA, for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, and for those who have experienced military sexual trauma.

The venue for each Breakaway is 68 acres of land with ponds, trails, a labyrinth, meditation center, dining building, and sleeping accommodations for 12-14 individuals; there is no cost to participants, and to date far, 250 people have attended.

Beginning in 2017, VPALS, in conjunction with the Mercer County Veterans Court, has trained 60 Veteran Court Mentors from counties throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Our motto is “Any Vet – Any Era – Anywhere,” and we have worked with veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Lebanon, Panama, Kosovo, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.

There is no paid staff, we operate independently from government funding and support for our efforts has come from private citizens, businesses, and various organizations.
