Stone Memorial Library

Specific Need

The pandemic has affected all of us, including Stone Memorial Library. We have been unable to perform our typical fundraisers - such as our book sale -in light of our restrictions and closures. In the interest of transparency, as we look forward to 2021 and beyond, it is entirely possible that we may be on the recieving end of state budget cuts. Although this may be the case, we continue to be both a valuable and valued asset for our community. We do much more than just provide printed books for our patrons. We provide access to the internet through WiFi, via our patron computers, and through hotspots that you can take home. We provide fax and copying services. We provide free educational programming through our storytimes and various workshops. Within a week of our closure in March, we moved our Children's Storytime online in an effort to do what we could to continue to provide that service for our community. Likewise, as part of the Crawford County Library System, we continue to provide access to virtual borrowing services, which includes audiobooks, magazines, online databases, and eBooks. In spite of our current restrictions, we continue to look forward to doing all that we can to provide for our community. With your help, we can only hope to continue to do more.

Objectives of the Stone Memorial Library:

- To provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere using traditional and innovative technology to encourage lifelong learning in a friendly environment;

-To provide reference and recreational materials that are relevant to user needs;

-To offer facilities that are inviting, safe, and well-maintained which are available during the hours of greatest convenience to users;

-Careful stewardship of the public trust, which ensures accountability and makes the most efficient and effective use of funds, both public and private, to enhance services to our users;

-To meet the information needs of the community and to enable them to develop their ability to find and use information in a variety of formats;

-To assist individuals to grow intellectually, to supplement formal study, and encourage informal self-education;

-To nurture our talents and each other;

-To constantly reassess our services and methods to adapt to the changing needs of our community.

The James A. Stone Memorial Library has been serving the community of Conneautville since 1904.
