Stone Memorial Library

Specific Need

Last year, the Stone Memorial Library had to have some emergency repairs performed to replace some brick work that was crumbling on the front of our building. As this was an unexpected expense, we are looking to raise funds to assist in building up our budget again so that we can continue to efficiently offer books, materials, and other services to our patrons. As we look to the future of the library, we would also like to one day make it possible to finish rennovating our second floor, which would make a great community use space for meetings and other library and community events. Your generous support would assist us in making this possible, and would be most appreciated.

Mission

Objectives of the Stone Memorial Library:

- To provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere using traditional and innovative technology to encourage lifelong learning in a friendly environment;

-To provide reference and recreational materials that are relevant to user needs;

-To offer facilities that are inviting, safe, and well-maintained which are available during the hours of greatest convenience to users;

-Careful stewardship of the public trust, which ensures accountability and makes the most efficient and effective use of funds, both public and private, to enhance services to our users;

-To meet the information needs of the community and to enable them to develop their ability to find and use information in a variety of formats;

-To assist individuals to grow intellectually, to supplement formal study, and encourage informal self-education;

-To nurture our talents and each other;

-To constantly reassess our services and methods to adapt to the changing needs of our community.

Profile

The Stone Memorial Library has been serving Conneautville for 115 years, since 1904. We have many new and current books to read on a variety of subjects, and some special old ones too! As a library in the 21st century, we surely offer more than just that. We have computers and other technology that can be used to access the internet. We have a weekly story time for children that incorporates stories, learning, crafts, and games. We also have a monthly book club and a weekly knitting and crocheting group that meets in our space. We look forward to being able to continue serving our community by offering programs that highlight education and support the social needs of our patrons.
