Greater Titusville Development Foundation

Goal: $40,000.00

Specific Need

This year, the Greater Titusville Development Foundation is partnering with the local Pickleball Association and the City of Titusville to raise money for 6 new pickleball courts located at the Ed Myer Complex in Titusville, PA.

Pickleball is America’s fastest growing sport according to the APP Pickleball Participation Report as of 2023. Fourteen percent of Americans 18+ played between August 2021 and August 2022.  That would equal 36.5 million pickleball players and growth for the foreseeable future.

Why Pickleball is growing the attention of a vast age group is simply this, exercise, fun and a whole new community of people.  With this type of growth and curiosity, there are going to be some growing pains and that is what we are experiencing in our town of Titusville Pennsylvania.

To support the growth and interest of Pickleball in our community, we are looking for individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations to contribute in any way that they can.  We have a commitment from the City of Titusville for $25,000 and a $5,000 commitment from The Greater Titusville Development Foundation. The current projected cost to transition two tennis courts into six exclusive Pickleball courts at the Ed Myer Complex in Titusville is approximately $75,000.

Pickleball has many benefits to communities and business owners as well.  One such benefit is the attraction from other communities to compete at various levels since Titusville is central to many other communities that have pickleball players that want to compete.  When tournaments are organized, players come from many miles and pay registration fees that will go back to the sponsoring organization. One such organization is our Titusville YMCA which has supported pickleball with their gymnasium creating three indoor courts.  In addition, the YMCA has dedicated times for morning and evening play for beginners and advanced players.  The YMCA has also supported tournaments that attract a wide array of players.  When these new players come to our community to compete, they not only bring their families for usually a day or two, but they also bring new dollars to spend at our local restaurants and merchants.

Pickleball is a wonderful way to add an additional reason not only to visit our community but also to exercise and meet new friends. With your support we can grow and maintain a robust community.
