Cambridge Springs Heritage Society

Goal: $1,200.00

Specific Need

The museum is in crucial need of window air conditioning unit for the two large display rooms.  Temperature control is needed to maintain and preserve  documents, the photo collection, artifacts, and clothing  stored there.  The electrical service will need to be updated and a new circuit installed.  This will also make the building comfortable for visitors and the volunteer staff that work there.  Many days it is unbearable to work  because of the heat.

We also plan to replace water damaged ceiling tiles, add energy efficient LED light bulbs and replace old broken window blinds.

Because of your generous donations of 2019, we were able to rewire and place an air conditionor in the main office.  It has been a pleasure rescheaching and reading microfiche in the office with the air conditioning. ( Thank You! )   The dedicated Staff has been busy researching and preparing our next power point for the near future.

Our goal is to raise $ 1,200 with Crawford Gives with your funding support.

The Cambridge Springs Heritage Society was founded in 1976 with the museum opening in 1995.  The museum has been providing the bridge  from the past to the present  by collecting and preserving records, photos, yearbooks, and artifacts for future generations.  The main interest is preserving and sharing history both ancestral and historical  relating to Cambridge Springs   We provides genelogy research in support of family history.   We offer

historical educational resources to share and connect with the public.   We support and get involved in local historical events and anniversaries relating to past businesses and people.

Since 2017 the historical society has provides  free power points programs called History Nights about our Cambridge Springs four times a year.   Each history nights has a new and different program about the town followed by homemake refreshments.   The programs are well attended  by the community. The audience is encouraged to actively particapate to share any information that they know about the subject of the program.   We all learn something new every program.   This past year we have started to video record these programs.

The museum houses a room dedicated to Alliance College with artifacts. We actively share infomation with the Alliance College Alumni and answer any inquiries.

In  December 2004 the grave site of  Job Van Court ( first recorded settler of CambridgeBoro ) was moved from a field to the Cambridge Lower Cemetery and a headstone placed by the Cambridge Springs Heritage Society.  The grave is maintained by the museum staff.

Museum  Tours are conducted yearly for the eighth grade students from Cambridge Springs High School.  Private tours for groups

 can also be scheduled.

Last year Cambridge Springs High School students had a Community Service Day where several students worked  at the museum helping with cleaning and yard work. We hope to have them back in the future.

All these services are provided by a small group of dedicated volunteers.
