Mission

Because You Care is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, and placement of stray and abandoned pets. 

Profile

Because You Care is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1981. We rescue stray and abandoned dogs and cats and prepare them for permanent homes by spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them, and treating them for any other medical needs.  All pets start in volunteer foster homes so they can be evaluated for any medical or behavioral issues before they are made available for adoption.  Once ready, pets move to our adoption center where they are cared for by volunteers until they are adopted. Using this model, the personality, habits, and health of pets are well known, enhancing our ability to place them in adoptive homes that are a good match.  All potential adoptive families are screened and interviewed.  BYC tries to match the personality of the pet with the characteristics of the adoptive family. Our goal is to find the last home that pet will ever need so that it never becomes homeless again.

We also sponsor a trap, neuter, and return program to help reduce the overpopulation of stray and feral cats.

BYC receives no government funding and relies on donations to acheive our mission.
